The Perfect Home for the Holidays

Most can agree that the holiday season can be stressful. For those that dread decorating, it can be one more thing on the long list of to-do’s. We’ve taken the guesswork out of decorating with our quick-and-easy tips for creating the perfect holiday feeling in your home that will last from Thanksgiving through the new year.

Cold to Cozy in Minutes

Making the holidays great starts with taking home decor from cold to cozy. It’s time to insert holiday cheer that isn’t there during the rest of the year. Pull out the blankies and prop up bright and festive pillows. Grab an evergreen wreath for the door, some trimmings for the mantle or to add to holiday centerpieces. Better yet, drop by the local Christmas tree farm for a selection of fresh trees and wreaths. Tree farms will also often throw in tree trimmings for those who ask. Mistletoe is another great opportunity to bring outdoor seasonal flair indoors. Mistletoe is an unmistakable tradition this time of year that can create memorable moments from photos snapped to sibling giggles. Candles also add to the mood. They are not only magical, but they can add the perfect scent of the season. We are loving some of the creative new flavors out there this year like salted caramel, chai latte and cinnamon with bitter orange. (And of course, a classic standby is Bath & Body Works’ Leaves!) Elle Decor offers a great list of candles for 2017 that look chic and smell fab! So flip on the holiday carols and get to work!

A Signature of the Season

Another way to make everyday magical is to pull out the bar cart. We suggest the cart be adorned with a few signature beverages that can make everyday on the advent feel a bit more like Christmas Eve. We like to do holiday cocoa in a carafe and display marshmallows, peppermint schnapps and candy canes alongside. For those who can get away with it, consider a holiday coffee to kick off your morning with a festive start! Bring on the Treats

The holidays are all about indulgence. One holiday indulgence we all love is baked goods. So, make a plan to bake this season. Whether it’s baking with the family, a baking party with friends or solo time in the kitchen with a glass of wine, the finished product is a sweet holiday pick-me-up. We recommend baking treats that keep well and can be portioned out or delightfully displayed leading up to Santa’s milk and cookies. A few of our time-tested favorites for texture, variety, and durability are almond roca, dipped pretzel rods and Russian tea cookies.

Boost the Luxury

Fun throw pillows and throw blankets can go a long way toward increasing cozy vibes, so apply those same concepts to the bedroom, foyer or even the kitchen nook. In the bedrooms, consider flannel or ornamental silk sheets. Add dreamy overstuffed bedding, too. We love this layered look by Pottery Barn. We like to swap out our daily linens in the bathrooms and kitchens too with fresh and festive towel sets. Or go the extra mile by placing a basket of fuzzy slippers at the front door.

We hope these tips will ensure all the best in holiday cheer. For more tips, ideas or a free consultation, contact us or drop by the store!
